Vin's Shooting Tips
Through years of experience, if there is one thing we've learned, it's that Americans can shoot some great video footage. But please keep in mind, a lot of videos that could have been great, were rejected due to some simple technical errors.
Let's start with the basics. Here are some tips to help you ensure that your tape will be as great as the action you're shooting:
- Don't tape with a television or radio playing in the background.
- Hold the camera steady. A moving camera distracts from the humor of the action.
- Check out the lighting. Back-light (light behind the subject) coming from a window, the sun or anything else can ruin the action of your video.
- Pay attention to getting the focus and exposure right.
- Don't allow name-brand products in your videos. We will not be able to use such videos on AFV.
- Keep it short. The average AFV® clip is just a few seconds.
Keep these tips in mind and keep the tape rolling and one day, you'll be on your way to shooting one of America's Funniest Home Videos. Good luck!
